Hallo,

zuerst einmal möchten ich und meine Mitstudenten sich nochmals herzlich bei den Teilnehmern an unseren beiden umfangreichen, ähnlichen Umfragen „Arbeitsvorstellungen und Kompetenzen im Second Life und im realen Leben“ sowie „Arbeit, Geld und Selbstverwirklichung in SL“ bedanken.

In die Auswertung des ersten Fragebogens sind 50 Antworten eingegangen, allerdings haben sich kurz nach Auswertungszeitpunkt noch sehr viele beteiligt, womit ich nicht gerechnet hätte. Auch ihnen spreche ich meinen herzlichen Dank aus. So waren es letztlich 81 Antworten für den ersten Fragebogen. Allerdings hat eine erste Durchsicht gezeigt, dass die wesentlichen Tendenzen gleich geblieben sind.

Zusammenfassung

Auf folgenden Fragenkomplex sollte der Fragebogen Antworten geben:
1. Was verstehen die SL-Bewohner/innen in Second Life unter Arbeit und was verstehen sie im realen Leben darunter? Unterscheiden sich ihre Arbeitswünsche in SL und RL?
2. Wie gut können die SL-Bewohner/innen über SL die Arbeit finden, die sie wirklich wollen?
3. Wie gut können die Menschen ihre Kompetenzen in SL und im RL einsetzen? / Wie gut können Sie sich selbst darstellen?
4. Haben die Menschen in SL Selbstdarstellungsstrategien und Kompetenzen dazugelernt (für ihren SL- oder RL-Erfolg)?
Ergebnisse:

Arbeit in Second Life ist für die SL-Bewohner/innen nicht dasselbe wie Arbeit im realen Leben. SL-Arbeit wird mit deutlich mehr Spaß und Leidenschaft, dafür aber auch mit weniger Sinn und mit deutliche weniger Bezahlung als RL-Arbeit verbunden. Die Tätigkeiten, die die 50 Befragten in SL bevorzugen, unterscheiden sich zu 64 % von den Tätigkeiten, die sie im RL bevorzugen. Dabei fallen die Vorlieben zugunsten des realen Lebens aus: Von 17 Tätigkeitsfeldern werden 13 etwas lieber im RL ausgeführt. Auch haben die meisten SL-Bewohner/innen verschiedene Traumberufe für SL und RL. Ein Grund dafür liegt sicherlich darin, dass SL ein anderes Medium ist und für vertraute RL-Berufe (z. B. Sozialarbeiter) sowie medientechnischen Berufe (z. B. Webdesigner) keine gleichwertigen Entsprechungen hat. Dafür wünschen sich die Menschen in SL etwas öfter Geschäfts- und Managementberufe.

Was die Chancen betrifft, in SL seine Wunscharbeit zu finden, sind die Chancen in SL noch geringer als im RL: Nur 10 % glauben, eher in SL ihre Wunscharbeit zu finden, 38 % errechnen sich im RL mehr Chancen. Ein Grund dafür ist, dass viele berufliche Tätigkeiten den Befragten im RL mehr Spaß machen, wie oben geschrieben. 24 % können sich sogar überhaupt keinen Traumberuf für SL vorstellen (fürs RL können dies nur 5 % nicht). Weitere große Hürden stellen die Technik von SL dar, die Tatsache, dass alles „nur virtuell“ ist sowie der Wunsch nach finanziellem Erfolg, den viele in SL nicht erwarten. Und von den Befragten, die trotzdem versucht haben, ihre Wunscharbeit in SL zu bekommen, scheiterten 69 %.

Immerhin können die SL-Bewohner/innen ihre Kompetenzen zu 46 % in SL und RL gleich gut einsetzen, wobei es ansonsten eine Tendenz zum RL gibt. Zu den Schwächen, die die SL-Bewohner/innen am besten verbergen können, zählen vor allem Schüchternheit (34 %), schlechte Laune (30 %).

Zum Dazulernen für den beruflichen Erfolg scheint SL nur gering bis mäßig geeignet sein. So haben sich die Kompetenzen der Befragten durch Teilnahme an SL allenfalls wenig verbessert. Mäßig scheint SL aber dazu geeignet zu sein, Kommunizieren, Umgang mit anderen Kulturen und künstlerisches Gestalten zu lernen
